UBS reported third-quarter 2026 net profit attributable to shareholders of $2.69 billion on Wednesday, October 28, an increase of about 8% from $2.48 billion a year earlier. The Swiss banking group said its global wealth-management business attracted $55.1 billion in net new assets during the quarter.

The bank reported total quarterly revenue of $13.35 billion, compared with $12.76 billion in the year-earlier period. Its cost-to-income ratio, which measures operating costs relative to revenue, improved to 72.3% from 77.0%. Net new assets in global wealth management were led by customers in Asia-Pacific and the Americas, according to the company's quarterly statement.

UBS has continued the integration of Credit Suisse, the former rival it took over in 2023. The bank said it expects to finish the integration by the end of 2026 and has raised its cumulative cost-savings expectation for that period to about $13.7 billion. The process has included a reduction in employee numbers.

The bank also accelerated its existing share-repurchase programme. Reuters reported that UBS had bought back about $1.8 billion of shares in the quarter and intended to finish a $3 billion programme by February 2027. The timing and scale of future shareholder distributions remain subject to business conditions and proposed Swiss capital requirements.

UBS's quarterly performance should not be confused with the unresolved regulatory debate. Swiss policymakers are considering changes to capital rules following the Credit Suisse failure, and the bank has argued that additional requirements must balance resilience with competitiveness. The third-quarter figures are reported results; the projected integration completion, savings and repurchase timetable are forward-looking plans.
