Teradyne Revenue Jumps 70% to $1.31 Billion as AI Chip Testing Demand Grows
The semiconductor test equipment maker exceeded quarterly forecasts, reported a profitable robotics business and projected fourth-quarter revenue of $1.25 billion to $1.35 billion.
Teradyne reported a sharp increase in third-quarter revenue on October 27, 2026, as demand for equipment used to test advanced chips and memory supported sales across its semiconductor businesses. The Massachusetts-based company recorded revenue of $1.306 billion for the quarter, compared with $769 million in the same period of 2025, an increase of approximately 70%.
Net income attributable to the company reached $342.4 million under generally accepted accounting principles, equivalent to $2.17 per diluted share, compared with $0.75 per share a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were $2.29 per share, while revenue exceeded an approximately $1.27 billion analyst forecast cited by financial reporting. Adjusted figures exclude certain expenses and are not directly interchangeable with the company's reported accounting earnings.
Semiconductor Test contributed $1.072 billion in quarterly revenue, substantially more than the company's other two reporting groups. Product Test generated $138 million, while Robotics brought in $96 million. Teradyne said its memory and integrated-systems testing activities achieved record revenue, supported by demand associated with artificial intelligence infrastructure. Its Robotics business recorded its highest third-quarter revenue and reached profitability, according to the company.
The quarter was not stronger on every comparison. Total revenue was slightly below the $1.329 billion reported in the second quarter of 2026, while adjusted earnings declined from $2.47 per share in that preceding quarter. The contrast underscores the difference between rapid annual growth and sequential performance.
For the fourth quarter, Teradyne forecast revenue of $1.25 billion to $1.35 billion, with adjusted earnings of $1.95 to $2.25 per diluted share. The company also projected GAAP earnings of $1.88 to $2.18 per share. Those ranges are management forecasts rather than confirmed future results.
Teradyne supplies testing systems used in semiconductor production and other electronics manufacturing, alongside collaborative and mobile robotics. Rising investment in AI servers and high-bandwidth memory has increased the importance of testing components before they enter complex computing systems. The company's results provide evidence of current demand for those tools, but future orders remain exposed to semiconductor spending cycles, export restrictions and changes in customers' capital budgets.
