ServiceNow and OpenAI announced an expansion of their enterprise software partnership on October 28, introducing a ServiceNow integration for ChatGPT and outlining additional work on software development, cybersecurity and voice-based governance.

The companies said the ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in OpenAI's marketplace. It is designed to bring business context and actions from ServiceNow into ChatGPT, so authorized staff can investigate IT incidents, assess changes and update records without switching applications. Existing enterprise permissions and workflow controls remain part of the integration, according to the companies.

The announcement extends a partnership first announced in January. ServiceNow said its Action Fabric will connect OpenAI-powered interactions with the workflows and approval processes used by its customers. The announcement describes a product integration available now, but several other features are plans rather than generally available products.

A planned Codex integration with ServiceNow's AI Workflow Factory would help developers build and modify applications using the business context held in ServiceNow. The partners also intend to combine OpenAI cybersecurity capabilities with ServiceNow's asset, identity and risk information to support investigations and remediation. A proposed voice interface would help users describe AI use cases and complete governance assessments.

The companies expect security capabilities to enter early access in January 2027, with general availability planned for the second quarter of that year. The Codex integration is expected in 2027, while voice capabilities are targeted for the first quarter. These are company timelines and may change.

The companies also described internal deployments: ServiceNow plans to make ChatGPT Work and Codex available to its employees, while OpenAI plans to use ServiceNow workflows in its own operations. The announcements did not disclose financial terms or demonstrate independently measured customer productivity gains from the expanded arrangement.
