Pinterest Reaches 661 Million Monthly Users but Quarterly Net Income Falls 77%

The visual-search platform reported record monthly users and 12% revenue growth, but profit declined sharply and its holiday-quarter sales forecast signalled slower expansion.

Pinterest reported a record 661 million global monthly active users in the third quarter of 2026, even as its net income declined sharply and its forecast pointed to slower revenue growth in the final quarter of the year.

The visual-search and shopping platform announced on October 29 that quarterly revenue rose 12% from a year earlier to $1.174 billion. Monthly active users increased 10% from 600 million a year earlier. The larger audience did not translate into comparable profit growth: net income under generally accepted accounting principles fell 77% to about $22 million from $92 million. Diluted GAAP earnings per share declined to $0.04 from $0.13.

Pinterest's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation reached $339 million, up 11%. That non-GAAP measure excludes certain costs and should not be confused with net income. Free cash flow declined from approximately $318 million to $300 million. The results show the distinction between user growth, sales expansion and the profit remaining after expenses.

For the fourth quarter, Pinterest forecast revenue between $1.425 billion and $1.475 billion, equivalent to year-on-year growth of approximately 8% to 12%. That is guidance rather than a completed result. The company is working to improve its advertising offerings and make its visual-search and shopping tools more useful to consumers and advertisers, including through artificial intelligence.

The company reported stronger revenue growth in the United States and Canada and in markets outside Europe, while European revenue was broadly flat. The differing regional trends underscore that a larger global audience does not automatically produce uniform advertising income. Its next-quarter performance will test whether Pinterest can convert user engagement into faster monetisation.
