DKSH Acquires Roche Antibiotic Brand Rights Across More Than 80 Markets

The Swiss distribution group has purchased commercial rights to the Rocephin brand across several regions, expanding its portfolio of established healthcare products.

Updated: 2 min read

Swiss market-expansion and distribution company DKSH said on October 28 that it had acquired rights to the Rocephin antibiotic brand from Roche across more than 80 markets. The transaction extends DKSH's portfolio of pharmaceutical brands in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Rocephin is a brand of ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Ceftriaxone is included on the World Health Organization's Model List of Essential Medicines. The announcement concerns ownership of brand rights in specified markets; it does not announce the discovery of a new medicine or any change to the drug's approved clinical uses.

According to DKSH's statement, the established Rocephin business generated approximately 61 million Swiss francs in net sales during 2025. The company did not disclose a purchase price in the announcement. DKSH already acts as a commercial partner for the medicine in certain markets and said it expects to use its existing distribution infrastructure to support continuity for customers and healthcare partners.

The acquisition follows DKSH's purchase of rights to another established pharmaceutical brand, Meliane, from Bayer earlier in 2026. The group describes such purchases as part of a strategy to expand its own-brand healthcare operations rather than relying solely on distribution agreements for other manufacturers.

The October 28 announcement confirms that DKSH acquired the specified brand rights. It does not establish that sales will increase, nor does it provide a quantified forecast for the transaction's effect on future profit.
